Privacy Policy

QuickScan — Document & QR Scanner · Effective 3 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how QuickScan (“the App”) handles your information. QuickScan is developed and operated by Sourav Mishra (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

What we do NOT collect

QuickScan does not maintain a user account. We do not run our own servers. We do not collect, transmit, or store your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, or scanned documents on any infrastructure we control.

• Your scanned documents are stored locally on your device (inside the App's sandbox) or in your own iCloud Drive (if you enable iCloud sync in Settings). We have no access to them.
• OCR (text extraction) is performed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Nothing is sent to us or any third-party OCR service.
• QR content that you scan or generate stays on your device unless you explicitly share it via the iOS share sheet.

Information collected by third-party services

To keep QuickScan free, we display advertisements via Google AdMob. AdMob is operated by Google LLC and has its own privacy practices. When you use QuickScan, AdMob may collect:

• Device identifiers — such as your Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) if you allow tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
• Advertising data — impressions, clicks, ad-unit performance.
• Coarse location — approximate (city / region level), derived from your IP address, used to serve region-appropriate ads.

These are collected for the purpose of third-party advertising and analytics. Google's own Privacy Policy explains its data handling in detail: policies.google.com/privacy. You can review Google's advertising practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

If you decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, AdMob will serve non-personalized ads based only on aggregate context (no IDFA).

Permissions the App may request

• Camera — required to scan documents and QR codes. No camera frames are transmitted anywhere.
• Photo Library — required to import an existing image for scanning, and to save generated QR codes to your library. You choose exactly which photos you share via the standard iOS picker.
• iCloud — optional, off by default. When enabled, QuickScan stores scanned documents in your personal iCloud Drive (container: iCloud.com.sm.quickscan). Data stays within your Apple ID and is never accessed by us.
• App Tracking Transparency (IDFA) — the system prompt appears after your first scan. Declining is fully supported; the App remains functional.

Analytics and crash reporting

QuickScan does not integrate any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs beyond what Google Mobile Ads uses for its own ad delivery. Apple may generate aggregate, anonymized crash and usage reports (via App Store Connect) if you have opted in via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. We use those anonymized reports to diagnose bugs.

Children's privacy

QuickScan is intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through QuickScan, please contact us so we can address it.

Your choices

• Withdraw ad tracking consent — iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle QuickScan off.
• Reset advertising identifier — iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Reset Advertising Identifier.
• Delete all your scans — long-press a document → Delete, or delete the App to remove local data. If iCloud sync was enabled, delete the QuickScan folder in the Files app to also clear the iCloud copy.
• Watch an ad to hide ads — Settings → “Watch a short ad to hide ads for 1 hour” gives you a one-hour ad-free window without any tracking commitment.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be surfaced in-app when reasonably possible.
